Our Little Dual Citizen

When people meet Eliana the most common question we get is

 "Was she born here in Belize?"  Yes!

The second most common question?  

"Is she a US citizen?"  Yes!

Because she was born in Belize, Eliana is a Belizian citizen.  Because both of her parents are US citizens, she is also a US citizen.  After multiple trips to the mainland, waiting at the US embassy, filing for a birth certificate (more than once, her first one got lost in the mail), some interesting newborn passport photos, and a lot of paperwork we FINALLY are ready for our little dual citizen to make her first trip to the States!

On Tuesday my six month old and I will start our trek to the States.  First, we'll spend a few days in Colorado.  Then we'll head to Wisconsin to visit more friends and family and attend my life long friend, Lauren's, wedding.  (More about her and her special day in future posts!)   Noah will be staying in Belize to continue his studying in his secondary school, Bible School for the Nations.  

Oh and if you were wondering, the third most common question we get from Belizeans is

 "Why haven't you pierced her ears yet?"    :)
